What's in a name ? Boat names that make you smile :)

Cruising the canals at the recommended speed of 4 mph or less, is a tranquil sport with a few occasional distractions such as your dog barking and levitating off the boat roof at the outspread wing challenge of aggressive swans;  torrential rain;  going aground;  supermarket bags wrapped around the propeller and so on.....

.....So tranquil in fact, that your mind can wander as you steer the boat past pastoral scenes that make your eyelids droop and  your brain look for a little diversion.......

" Oh, look a boat...how interesting "  you tell yourself as you pass a line of moored craft.

" Now that is a funny name " you muse, glancing at the many and varied boat names.

" Firkham Hall , mmmm must be a local manor farm perhaps, what a boring thing to name a boat after."
Chatting to myself and making perfect sense........at least I  always listen :)

"Firkham Hall? wait a minute......oh yes, got it.......nice one, like that, much better than most of  the boats names I have seen to-day"    I chuckle at this originality which is lacking in some boat names. I am sure that  some clever know-it-all will now e-mail me with the information that there are 2389 boats called 'Firkham Hall' on the canal system.

"Oh, well ....Firkham Hall" as they say........but here is just a few
